Liberians Celebrate Brumskine-Karnwea Ticket as Campaign Kicks Off
The official campaign season of the 2017 elections kicked off on Monday July 31st to celebration and jubilation around the Liberty Party strongholds of Montserrado, Nimba and Grand Bassa. The party launched its campaign in the three counties, where its membership base has grown astronomically over the last six months, to tout its popularity and strength in numbers. That strength has been confirmed by independent polls, which has Liberty Party as the leading party ahead of the 2017 elections.
Across the three counties, Liberty Partisans were seen jubilating and dancing to party songs as they canvassed communities with the party’s message on reconciliation, reform, recovery and rebuilding of the national economy. The celebration escalated when the Standard Bearer of Liberty Party, Cllr. Charles Brumskine and the Vice Standard Bearer, Hon. Harrison Karnwea, took to the streets. Thousands of supporters thronged both leaders as they walked the streets, shook hands with motorists and knocked on doors. One pedestrian walking by was heard saying “this papay will win the election this time around. He is really connecting with us.” The “papay”, as Cllr. Charles Brumskine is affectionately called, alludes to the wisdom and benevolence of the astute Counselor, who many now view as the presumptive winner of the 2017 elections.
For his part, Cllr. Brumskine was elated that he had chance to kickoff the campaign with the people he wants to lead. “I am so happy today. Mrs. Brumskine and I are so grateful for this opportunity to help our country. We are especially glad to do so with so many supporters. The level of support we have experienced over the last year is overwhelming. We must now work even harder to gain the support of other Liberians as we bring real change to our country.”
