Astros vs. Athletics MLB Pick – August 15th

The Houston Astros head to the west coast.

They even won the opener, but faltered in the next two games. They dropped a 4-1 decision then got into a high-scoring shootout in a 13-9 closing. The next game was an uncharacteristic loss for the Astros, as their throwing got throttled for 13 runs yesterday afternoon.
Wade Miley made out of sorts early and continued just 3.1 innings before the bullpen took over and obtained an even worse beating. Ryan Pressly chose the largest reduction, as he was manipulated for 4 earned runs in only an inning of work. Despite this demanding show, the Astros have been in great shape using a 9.5-game cause the AL West.
The Astros can afford to have a hit in August and still cruise to the postseason with the AL West crown ahead. However, they’re still competing with the Yankees for seeding. The Yankees are now a few games around the Astros, thus there’s work left to do for Houston in this regard. There’s also the Dodgers who’d have homefield edge on them if they were to fulfill in the World Series.
The primary objective is under wraps for the Astros, though. They will not have to play at the Wild Card Game, while the Athletics do not know whether they will be playing in any postseason game. Every game gets more significant than the preceding from now on out.
Mike Fiers, that has been the most underrated pitcher in the majors this year, will likely be tasked with leading the Athletics into a triumph over the Astros on Thursday. Conversely, Aaron Sanchez will soon be making his third start for a member of the Astros tonight. Head below for our free Astros vs. Athletics pick.

Aaron Sanchez was thrown a life preserver when the Astros called the Blue Jays and obtained about the accessibility of him. Sanchez got a transaction to an aggressive team and a club that has been known for getting the maximum from their pitchers. Much Justin Verlander has looked much better at Houston and this can be later pitching no-hitters plus a Cy Young at Detroit. JV said he learned things he never knew before and it has appeared to provide help.
In Sanchez’s brief time in Houston thus far, he’s been good using a 0.82 ERA in two trips. Can it be the Astros’ result or he’s only finally finding his groove? It could be a little of both. Sanchez did set up a good outing for the Blue Jays against the Indians two starts before heading to Houston. Overall on the season, Sanchez goes with a 5.60 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. I don’t think he was as poor as he looked in Toronto to nearly all the calendar year, however that I also don’t believe he’s as good as we have seen in Houston the previous two games.
Sanchez was wobbly pitching on the road in 2019, since he holds an ERA of 6.41 and also 1.79 WHIP in 60.1 innings. The Athletics are hitting on .269 together with 6 runs on Sanchez at 52 at-bats. The key for Oakland in this match, however, will be the play of Mike Fiers. Everybody has been sleeping on him this year, but he has been producing in their turning.
Fiers has been especially sharp in the home, where he has boasted an ERA of 2.54 and also 1.03 WHIP at 78 innings. Note that in ten of his prior eleven outings, Fiers has enabled two or less runs. He has not given up more than just 3 runs in a start because return on April 20th from the Blue Jays. The’Stros are hitting on just .230 from Fiers at 122 at-bats. The oddsmakers have been sleeping on Fiers this year too. As a home underdog, Fiers is obviously looking.
