Astros vs. Athletics MLB Pick – August 15th

The Houston Astros head after a weekend against the White Sox in Chicago to the coast.

They won the openerbut faltered at the next two games. They dropped a 4-1 decision then got to a high-scoring shootout in a 13-9 final. The second game was an uncharacteristic loss for the Astros, as their throwing got throttled for 13 runs yesterday afternoon.
Wade Miley made out of forms early and lasted just 3.1 innings prior to the bullpen took over and required a much worse beating. Ryan Pressly took the biggest reduction, as he was manipulated for 4 earned runs in only an inning of work. Despite that demanding show, the Astros have been in great shape having a 9.5-game cause the AL West.
The Astros can manage to take a hit in August and still cruise to the postseason with the AL West crown ahead. However, they’re still competing with the Yankees for seeding. The Yankees are a few games around the Astros, thus there’s work left to do for Houston in that respect. There’s also the Dodgers who’d have homefield edge on these when they were to fulfill at the World Series.
The main objective is under wraps for the Astros, however. They will not have to play in the Wild Card Game, while the Athletics don’t know whether they’ll be playing in any postseason game. Every match grows more important than the past from now on out.
Mike Fiers, who has been the most underrated pitcher in the majors this season, will likely be tasked with leading Athletics into a triumph over the Astros on Thursday. Unexpectedly, Aaron Sanchez will be making his third start for a member of the Astros tonight. Head below to our complimentary Astros vs. Athletics select.

Aaron Sanchez has been thrown a life preserver when the Astros known as the Blue Jays and obtained about the accessibility of him. Sanchez acquired a trade to a competitive team and a club that has been known for getting the maximum out of their pitchers. Even Justin Verlander has looked better in Houston and this is later pitching no-hitters and a Cy Young at Detroit. JV said he learned things he never knew before and it has seemed to help.
At Sanchez’s short time in Houston so far, he’s been great using a 0.82 ERA in two trips. Is it the Astros’ effect or he is just eventually finding his groove? It might be a bit of both. Sanchez did set up a solid outing for the Blue Jays against the Indians two starts before heading to Houston. Overall on the season, Sanchez enters with a 5.60 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. I really don’t think he had been as bad as he seemed in Toronto to nearly all the calendar year, but I also don’t believe he’s as good as we’ve seen in Houston that the past two games.
Sanchez has been rickety flying on the road in 2019, as he retains an ERA of both 6.41 and 1.79 WHIP at 60.1 innings. The Athletics are hitting .269 together with 6 runs scored on Sanchez in 52 at-bats. The key for Oakland in this game, though, will be the play of Mike Fiers. Everyone has been sleeping on him this year, but he has been generating in their rotation.
Fiers has been particularly sharp in the home, where he has boasted an ERA of 2.54 and 1.03 WHIP at 78 innings. Note that at ten of the previous eleven excursions, Fiers has allowed 2 or less runs. He hasn’t given up more than 3 runs in a start since return on April 20th from the Blue Jays. The’Stros are hitting just .230 against Fiers from 122 at-bats. The oddsmakers have been sleeping on Fiers this year as well. As a home underdog, Fiers is obviously looking.
